Description

Avineon is looking to add a GIS Consultant/Project Manager to our team of IT professionals. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of consulting and project management experience for utility and/or government/private sector clients, preferably in the field of GIS or engineering. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for execution of client projects and all required project management activities associated with these projects. Activities will include project management, data analysis, strategic and GIS implementation planning, data modeling, and GIS consulting.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing information from customers to identify, recommend, and direct implementation of solutions to improve a client's processes, services, and efficiency. Superior verbal and written communication skills are required along with a high level of attention to detail. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing projects in compliance with established ISO and CMMI standards.
  • Implementing PMI and PMBOK standards in project management activities.
  • Supporting clients, GIS operations, and applications.
  • Preparing status reports as required by customer or other mandates.
  • Conferring with, advising, and documenting recommendations to client management on procedures, policies, problems, priorities, and methods.
  • Preparing project operational documentation and methods.
  • Coordinating with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Assisting customers with data modeling and system planning.
  • Supporting technical staff in ensuring compliance with and completion of tasks required for project success.
  • Updating and maintaining project schedules and analyzing progress in support of technical staff to ensure milestones and deliverables are achieved to client satisfaction.
  • Monitoring and assessing cost, schedule, and performance metrics in support of Avineon and client objectives.
  • Supporting business development activities through the sales and proposal response processes.

Required Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of consulting or project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of GIS software and geospatial applications (e.g. Esri, Smallworld, etc.).
  • Understanding of data modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certification preferred (e.g. PMP, GISCI, etc.).
